First 12 Days Overview to Set Up Your Affilliate Marketing Business

I didn’t do much with my affiliate marketing yesterday except make a few small adjustments to my website.  Several other things came up that needed my immediate attention. I wrote the above on 9-23-09 and here it is 9-25-09.  I spent most of the 23rd reviewing my Simpleology lessons to see what I missed.  The sun was shining on the 24th , perhaps the last sunny and warm day for 2009, so I was outside much of the day.

I realize now that I did a number of things wrong by taking the easy way out.  By that I mean I used the articles provided by the affiliate program I am marketing.  The following are the actual steps I should have taken:

1.      Use Google Keyword Tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal long-tail keyword phrases

2.      Choose 10 of those long-tail keyword phrases and write an article on each of them, about 350-500 word articles.  Yes, that’s a bit of work.  Do you want to make money or not?  Being successful does require some effort.  Meditating in the shadows of your room won’t make it happen, no matter what they say.  However, it will help to keep you focused on your article writing.

3.      Visit http://ezinearticles.com and http://goarticles.com to get ideas on how to write and format your articles.

4.      Save your articles as text files not word documents.  You will use these articles as pages on your website.

5.      If you haven’t done so yet, set up your website.  Let me know if you want me to discuss how to do this.  Otherwise, I will take it that you know how to do this.

6.      Set up your webpages for SEO.

7.      Write 5 more articles from your list of 15-20 long-tail keywords.  Review the Editorial Guidelines at ezinearticles.com and include your bio-box at the end of your article.

8.      Submit all 5 articles to as many article directories as you can find.

9.      Create a free Squidoo account and set up your first Squidoo Lens about a topic of interest in your niche market.

10.  Create a free StumbleUpon account then select sites you would like to learn more about.  Select 1-3 topics somewhat related to your niche.

11.  Create a free YouTube Video sharing account.

As you can see, there is a lot to do to succeed online.  The course that I am taking is walking me through step-by-step.  As I mentioned earlier, you need to set up your first one yourself to understand all that needs to be done.  Once you have money coming in, you can outsource future affiliate programs you participate in.

Finally, I realize I did not explain in any detail a lot of what I mentioned above and you may not understand a lot of it.  That’s OK and that is why you need a guide or a guidebook to walk you through each step.

Once I have finished my first site and have profits to show, I will go into more detail on each of the steps.  I have only discussed the basics of the first 12 days of the 31-day course.  Over the next few days I will be writing articles and posting them here.  After that, I will get back with you on day 13.

“Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”

Why did Franklin D. Roosevelt make that statement in his inaugural address?  Did he really mean to say that or was it something his speech writers just put in because it sounded good?

Perhaps it is because fear is the cornerstone of all our problems, imagined or real.

In the pre-historic era man needed to have his fear mechanism (his amygdala) kick in whenever danger was approaching.  Those were real fears.  In our modern day society, most of our fears are imagined and pose no danger to us unless we let them.

Right now the economy is in a downward spiral and it may get a lot worse before we begin to climb out of our mess.  Think for a moment: What is the worst that can happen to us?  We may have to disconnect our TVs (hmmm… that may be a good thing).  We may have to give up our cell phones.  At least we will no longer need to worry about radiation from the phones turning our brains to mush.

Yes, there are many families struggling to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table.  Perhaps selling off all of our non-necessary stuff and eating more healthfully could turn out to be a good thing.  We may even loose our car(s) and have to resort to bicycles.

My point is, the only real worst thing that could happen to us is that we pass on from this life.  The chances of that happening are slim provided we manage our fears.

So how do we go about managing our fears?  I read a lot about people trying to convince us that it is not our fault that we are in the situation we are in and I have difficulty with those types of statements.  True, it is not our fault for the many bad things happening around us.  However, how we react to those happenings is totally under our control which means we can do something about how we react to outside forces.

There are many action steps we can take to deal with our fears.  Two resources I have found are at http://Fx3.ExperienceHappinessNow.com and at http://heartmath.org/destresskit.  Both are free to use.

The people who lived in FDR’s time and made it through the first Great Depression somehow learned to cope.  However, I feel that today there is much greater stress on us and our fears may just be more real which is why it is so important for us to stay focused on the good, smile and be happy in each and every moment.

Which Came First, the Fear or Stress?

Ever since I decided to become an affiliate for “Free From Fear” I have been reading up on fear, its symptoms and causes.  I have been able to find much more information on “Stress”.

However, from my studies, stress and fear are very much alike and I thought to myself, “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?”

Can you have stress with out being fearful?  Can you be afraid without becoming stressful?  It is my contention that the two terms can almost be inter-changeable.  See if you can come up with a situation that is stressful which did not have fear in the background.  Then see if you can name a fearful situation that did not lead to stress.

Look at these STRESS statistics compiled for a recent REFLEXOLOGY presentation.

*7 out of every 10 people who die each year had been living with a chronic illness.
*1 out of every 2 of us is now living with a chronic illness.
*For 3 of every 4 of those with a chronic illness, STRESS may be a contributing factor.
(American Medical Association)

*A full 43% of US adults suffer adverse effects from STRESS.
(American Psychological Association)

*More than 80% of physician office visits are associated with unresolved stress issues.
*Stress is a big factor in more than 75% of all illnesses diagnosed today with many studies putting this figure closer to 90%.

*Depression, only one type of stress reaction, is predicted to be the leading occupational disease of the 21st century, responsible for more days lost than any other single factor.
*$300 Billion, or $7,500 per employee, is spent annually in the US on stress-related compensation claims, reduced productivity, absenteeism, health insurance costs, direct medical expenses (nearly 50% higher for workers who report stress), and employee turnover.

After re-reading those figures a second time, I can see why despite the fact that the USA has the most modern medical facilities we rank far down on the list of the most healthy people in the world.  Most of our illnesses are caused by fear related stressful conditions.

Our medical profession is taught to prescribe drugs to cure us.  The drugs do not cure us, they just mast the symptoms until our bodies can do the healing (my personal feeling and at times I am glad that they do mast the symptoms).  If we do not uncover the root of the cause then our bodies have a difficult time doing its healing.  Talk about a  classic “Catch 22”.

One thing I read that was very interesting was that fear and love can not both exist within you at the same time.  An easy test of this is to “smile” when you are in a fearful situation or if you find yourself becoming stressed out.

The free e-Book, “Free From Stress” provides many insights into successfully coping with our fears.  http://fx3.ExperienceHappinessNow.com.

4 Guidelines to Make Your Web Pages Sing

In my manual on “Online Affiliate Income” Mark Joyner
discusses 4 guidelines to achieve the 3 objectives I mentioned in my previous
blog.

The first is to create a targeted and compelling Title.
I’m not sure if I actually did that since I simply copied the headline that came
with my article.  I will go back and see if I can make my headline better based
on the suggestions given in the manual.

The second guideline is to write a seductive introduction.
I’m not sure if I can be very seductive (just ask my wife) much less write
something seductive.  I’ll re-read the introduction to the articles and see if I
can make them seductive.  It’s a good thing there is an example in the manual
otherwise, I never would be able to figure out what is seductive.

The third guideline deals with the body, which need be only
3 to 5 paragraphs that provide informative details.  It says to write it in my
own unique voice.  Perhaps I should just talk into a microphone and then
transcribe the results?  They suggest going to Amazon.com and reading some
reviews of similar products to get an idea of what others are saying.  Great
idea!

Finally, I need to write a concluding paragraph that
mesmerizes my readers to go to my website and buy my product.  That seems like a
huge order.  When I pull that off, the money will come flowing in like the Nile.

Yes, I agree.  This is a lot of work, which is why I like
what is said at the end of this section.  “Do the first one or two websites
yourself.  Get some money coming in and then hire someone else to do most of the
work after that.”

Tomorrow I will go into part 3 of creating my affiliate
website.

Universal Fears and How They Are Fed to You

Most of us have a set of unique fears that relate to our own lives, like concerns about loved ones, financial worries and so on; but there are also many “universal” fears – or perhaps you might call them “collective” fears – that are communicated to us through our environment.

These fears often relate to situations and events that leave us feeling vulnerable and defenseless, such as worldwide ‘pandemics’ (…and ‘vaccines’), ‘terrorist’ attacks, economic and financial crises, and so on.

Not only do we see and hear constant references to these frightening scenarios in the media and from the people around us…

…the energy of collective fears also seeps into the very fabric of our reality (the quantum field) and continues to resonate around and within us.

Since we are all connected to the collective consciousness, we can actually absorb this “fear energy” as we go about our daily lives - even if we don’t pay attention to the media hype and mass hysteria.

In other words, if society’s desire was to manipulate and control people by keeping them suppressed in a low vibratory state of fear …this can affect everyone…

Have you ever felt nervous, edgy, tense, or vulnerable for no apparent reason?  Even when everything in your own life was going fine, you may still have been affected by these collective fears and felt uncomfortable as a result…

…And to make it worse, the moment you begin focusing on these fearful feelings, the more you begin to magnify the collective fear energy without even knowing it…

Reducing the Impact of Universal Fears

It’s not easy to avoid absorbing these fearful messages, especially when you seem to be surrounded by endless examples of them every day.  However, there are a few things you can do to minimize the impact they have on your life.

An obvious first step is to limit your exposure to news broadcasts; especially when they always seem to pertain to frightening events that are beyond your control…

Focusing on this force-fed fear programming only makes you feel more vulnerable and adds to the energy of the collective fear.  Certainly, you can stay informed about world events but it is advisable to seek independent, unbiased news sources on the internet, and then immediately start shifting your focus to something less fearsome.

Empower yourself by remembering that most of the things you fear will never come to pass.  In fact, when you remember that giving your attention to anything only makes it seem bigger and more intimidating, you can surely see the wisdom in being more discerning about the things you think about.

Deliberately focusing more on positive things will help override the negative input you receive each day too.  When you take greater control of your focus and place it decisively upon the creation of a joyful and positive reality, you contribute that same energy to the quantum field.  This helps minimize some of the fearful energy being contributed by others around the world.

It’s true that there are many horrible, scary things to worry about – but there are equally as many wonderful, joyful things to ponder.  Spend time each day thinking about the people you love, happy memories, and the great experiences that may be waiting just around the corner for you.  It may not make the scary possibilities go away completely but it will lighten your mood, leave you feeling happier and less fearful.

Putting the Finishing Touches on My Website, Mostly

Well, I spent much of my day adding to my main website at http://ExperienceHappinessNow.com.

My next goal is to get some articles out to the world to make my website more search engine friendly.  You will notice that I am also adding them to my blog as blogs get noticed quicker than websites.

Actually, I never thought of structuring a website like that recommended in “Online Affiliate Income.”  The suggestion is for sites with 10 or fewer pages.  I currently have 10 so I had better stop there.  It has been fun, or perhaps at least interesting, setting this up.  Now if only it works.  I’ll let you know.

I just re-read the directions and realized I did one thing wrong.  On some of my pages I referred back to my home page with the list of the over $1,500 in bonuses.  I will fix that so the bonuses are listed on each of those pages.  Luckily I am getting the hang of using MS Front Page.

Well, I just found another slight error.  In doing the keyword research, I need to do it for each page to make them more relevant.  That is going to take some time and I’m not excited about doing that and I will anyway.  If I am going to make this work, I need to follow the plan.

How to create each page of your affiliate website:

Each page must accomplish 3 things –
1. provide information people are searching for.  Use the results of your keyword searches.
2. Build trust in your knowledge and expertise
3. Gently lead your visitors towards visiting your affiliate sites.

The program goes into much more detail on each item.

It’s getting late and I still have to get my articles out.  I will post the first one on my blog shortly.

The Official Launch Date of Free From Fear

Today was the opening of the Freedom From Fear program.  The following is what I did to get ready for it.

First I set up a squeeze page (also referred to as a “landing page”).  You can see mine at http://fx3.ExperienceHappinessNow.com.  It is a way to capture a person name and e-mail address so that you can market to them through an autoresponder.

[Note: the “fx3. before my main URL title makes it a sub-domain of the main site.  This was done so that I didn’t have to purchase another URL.  I made my own lead capture page because I wanted to have control over my advertising.  Whatever type of business you are in (online or offline), you must have control of your marketing so that you can test and tweak it to make it more effective.

With online marketing you can do testing and get results much faster.

Next, I set up my main website, see http://ExperienceHappinessNow.com,  to get organic traffic from the search engines.  This is the first time I have done something like this.  I just followed the directions given to me in Mark Joyner’ course on Affiliate Marketing.

On my main page I set up a total of 6 pages plus the home page.  I did not link any of these pages back to the home page per my affiliate training  manual.  Why, I haven’t a clue.

The 6 pages are all articles about “Fear” and their purpose is to help my search engine rankings.  It will be interesting to see how that works.  I will also be posting the articles on this blog, again to rank better in the search engines.  Finally, I will post the articles on other websites.

Yes, this is a lot of work.  However, once I get the technique down pat, and start making some money, I can hire others to do most of the work.  It is always best to do the firs one or two yourself so you better understand the method.

Well, it’s late.  I will write more tomorrow.

Oh, one last thing.  I have begun using surfing sites to promote my landing page as well.

My First Step

“I am responsible.  Although I may not be able to prevent the worst from happening, I am responsible for my attitude toward the inevitable misfortunes that darken life.  Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life.  I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself.”

Walter Anderson - Author of The Confidence Course: Seven Steps to Self-Fulfillment

My first step (actually it’s my second – my first was realizing that I needed to take steps to get anywhere) on my journey out of the crater I find myself in.

As I mentioned earlier, I signed up with a course by Mark Joyner, often referred to as “The Godfather of Internet Marketing”.  It’s a title he earned the old fashioned way, by working for it.

I also took a course from EvolutionEzine.com.  They are launching a new course on “FEAR” and how to eliminate it, mostly, from your life.  I said “mostly” because some fear is a good thing.  In ancient times our “amygdala”, a key brain structure in the neurobiology of fear, helped keep us safe from danger.  It seldom serves much purpose today.

As an affiliate, I have had the privilege of reading the FREE e-book they are giving away during their promotion.  It is EXCELLENT and worth every minute you spend printing and reading it.  If you do nothing else, you will go a long way to reaching your ideal day when you study this e-book.

As an affiliate, I will be giving away as many of these e-books as I can, knowing full well that many people will invest a small amount of money to purchase and devour the expanded version.

Before taking Mark Joyner’s “Online Affiliate Income” Course, I never would have known the best way to successfully market as an affiliate.  Over the next few days I will share with you what I do and my results.

Today I am setting up my website at http://ExperienceHappinessNow.com.  Take a look and send me your feedback so that I may make any needed corrections.

Boy, this took longer than I had expected.  I also set up my “Fear” Landing Page at http://fx3.ExperienceHappinessNow.com.

Who is Gary Gile?

Yes, I realize you could care less about who I am.  However, in order for you to relate to what I write, my struggles and how I overcome them, you will need some background.  I also realize you could care less about that, EXCEPT that in knowing this you will, hopefully, be able to gain some insights and helpful ideas on how you can better deal with your life and making your ideal day a reality.

I have a BS degree with a double major in Mathematics and Psychology.  I studied Clinical Psychology for one year before going on to earn a secondary teaching credential.  Later I also studied accounting.

I taught math as well as speed-reading.  I have been the Fiscal Officer of a non-profit organization, an office manager of a medical clinic, the comptroller of a small insurance agency and a small printing company.  I have also been a Human Resources Officer for one of the largest state agencies in Connecticut.  Those are my most notable jobs.

I have also worked in radish fields removing weeds.  I have picked up bottles and cans on the roadside for extra cash.  I have been in home construction as well as a handyman at a horse farm.

My first wife died of a brain tumor.  My second wife divorced me.  She couldn’t deal with my two children.  I am now with my third wife who has done a great job of putting up with me.

Just over two years ago I left my high paying job (actually I was able to retire from it which is giving me a small monthly pension) to strike out on my own.  Boy what a disaster that has been so far.  I actually believed in myself enough to think I could succeed.

Now I am in debt for the first time in my life and it truly sucks not having any money.  Luckily, I still believe in my self and my abilities so I know I will work through this.

Over the next few weeks I will share with you what I do that works and what I do that doesn’t work for me.  Hopefully my struggles and successes will inspire you to do the same for you.

My next post will describe my plan to get myself out of the hole I am in.

An Apology and a Plan

My goal for this website was to share my thoughts, ideas and experiences with you in the hope that you might not make many of the same mistakes in life as I have.

Well, I keep making mistakes and taking wrong turns.  So I have decided to start today to change all of that.  You must understand that I am totally responsible for where I am in life and since my life totally sucks at this moment, you can imagine that I have not been treating myself as I deserve.

We all have greatness within us.  Most of us just never let that genius out.

You may be asking yourself: “Why should I be listening to this looser?”  Well, if you are thinking that then you are making a huge mistake, because you never want to pre-judge anyone or anything.  I have simply taken 50 years to realize what I want to do with my life.  Well, maybe not 50 years as I believe I knew long before now.  I just had not come up with a plan to put it into action.

Several years ago I signed up for Simpleology 101.  It was being given away for free and it is without a doubt the best investment of time anyone could make.  I say that now when I should have said that years ago. Like many people, I did not take it serious.  This morning I actually went through “My Daily Praxis” and realized the true power and genius of it.

I went on to purchase Simpleology 102 and 103.  I’m embarrassed to say that I have yet to take advantage of either one.  Now I signed up for their Affiliate training program and I am actually making use of it, mainly because I am in a very challenging situation and I am using what I learn from it to overcome this challenge.

Since it is very helpful, for me at least, to see the mistakes others have made and learn from them as well as learn how they overcame those mistakes, I will be writing about my daily experiences on my journey to turn things around.  I hope this will benefit you as well.

First, I feel it important for you to know a little about my background.  So I will tell you about me in my next blog.

Then I will map out my strategy and begin my plan for getting back on track to where I want to be in my life.  You will learn what I do, what didn’t work, what does work and my emotional state throughout the process.

You will be able to take what I am doing and apply it to what you want to do with your life, in the hopes that you will have an easier go of it.

Between now and when you return, do this exercise because it will help you focus on what you truly want.  Go to a quiet place, make sure you are not interrupted for at least 27 minutes, and clear your mind of all thoughts.

Imagine your perfect day.  Do not worry if you currently can’t do or don’t have some of what makes up your perfect day.  Simply write down what your perfect day would be like as if you had all the talent and money to make it happen.  Describe what your day would be like from the moment you awoke to the time you fall asleep at night.  Use enough detail so that you can see, taste, feel, hear, and smell every moment of your day.

Finally, at some later time, but not too much later, write down what is keeping you from actually living your ideal day.
