How to Drive Tons of Happy Buyers to Your Website
11. November 2008 by admin.
I have become desperate to get paying, action oriented customers to my websites because I have not been having any success with what I thought was the best and right way to find happy, action oriented people. It all started 23 months ago.
I was sitting at my desk doing super boring mundane work for a supervisor who did not know how to manage people. Being over 59 with the years to retire early, I began to dream again.
I told myself, “Yes, I can work from home and make a very good living.” I just needed enough money to last me a year so that I could establish myself and put all of my systems into place.
I had two websites that contained great products. I had ideas for a service website and I was looking for a really good MLM company for my residual income.
So finally 19 months ago I retired from a job I hated (actually I liked it for over 10 years until I was put in a position that gave me zero satisfaction doing work for a director that had zero people skills and who only wanted me to help him look good for the commissioner). The unfortunate part was that I was making over $81,000 a year while doing fairly easy work, yet unrewarding both mentally and emotionally.
So now I had just over 14 months, the amount of time I figured I could stretch my life savings, to make my Internet business a success. I am now into my 19th month and no Internet income to speak of and living off of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Luckily I am very good as a handy man and I have been able to earn some extra money doing manual labor. Now don’t get me wrong, I love doing that kind of work, usually. I just finished painting one side of a very large barn and my body aches. It was great to have people walk by and say what a great job I did and it will be great to have an extra $800 in my pocket, but I don’t want to do that kind of work on a regular basis.
Yes, I did enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to repair a stall wall that a horse moved one foot and almost caused to collapse but I would rather have been working on my land.
What I like most and what I did for over 10 years working for the state was helping others. That is what gives me my greatest joy. That is what I would rather be doing, hence my desperation in getting something to work for my Internet business.
I tried PPC and lost $100 quickly. I bought products which I couldn’t sell because I couldn’t get people to even look at my website. I joined several MLM companies because my upline promised to help me build a $10,000 a month business. They lied. All I did was help them build their $10,000 business. I joined inexpensive programs (only $5) with the anticipation of leveraging it into thousands. I could not get people to invest even $5 in themselves. They preferred to spend $20 on the lottery and give the state more income. I bought a group of products worth over $213,997 for less than dinner for two at an inexpensive restaurant with the idea that I can give some away as bonuses and even have other people buy the package for their own Internet business.
I have joined traffic exchanges and surfed countless hours. I have joined lists where I am sent emails to click on to be taken to websites in return for credits to use for advertising. Now my inboxes are full of email that I feel obliged to click on so I can get more points to use for advertising. But to advertise for what? Nothing I do seems to attract buying customers.
Well, I have been making several mistakes in my process. I have not been tracking my results. I have not been selling the right products to the right people. I have not been focused in using one strategy and sticking to it.
Well, in the past several days I have read two reports and am reading one book that I feel will put me on the right path to success at last. If my new learning and actions work like I feel they will, then I will be on the right path, finally. After all living on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches isn’t the greatest diet, even though I love peanut and jelly sandwiches.
I will keep you updated on my progress on my blog at http://BlogByGary.com
