Today is the first day of the rest of my life

In looking for what to write about next, I went through many of my old writings - thoughts of mine that I took the time to write down when they occurred, I came across some very good articles by other writers.

I am at a crossroad at this time.  Part of me wants to get into writing about referral marketing (also known as network marketing or MLM) because I truly believe it is one of the very best business models for many people.  Just like many other types of businesses, MLM has its good, its bad and even some ugly.  So it is important to do a thorough search for the right company for you.

Well, I have decided to put off talking about MLM, even though it may mean some loss of income to me down the road.  Because many of you will not become or be interested in MLM and the power behind it and how it can make a positive change to your life (providing you don’t buy into the few negatives as a result of a few bad apples in the barrel), I will continue to talk about things that can have a positive effect on your life regardless what direction you take.

The article I want to talk about today is called Truth, Lies, and What Is By Ray Dodd.  He starts off by describing a skiing accident he had.  Being a skier myself, it was easy to relate to what he was saying.  However, the important message he was relating was about how we remember past experiences and how we would describe them today.  “If the point of view of the story churns you up emotionally, it’s a story that’s hurting you and not helping you. Pay close attention. Does your story CHANGE anything?

We must accept the fact that “Life happens. Things do go wrong. Not every day is a sunny day. And so your true power lies in one thing and one thing only. You get to decide what to believe about it.

Yes, it comes back to choice.  As I talked about in an earlier post, we can’t control what happens around us or to us to a great extent.  We can and must take control of how we respond to what happens around us and to us.  That is our responsibility and ours alone.

That is why I have said that if we don’t like whom we see in the mirror, we must take responsibility for that person and then decide what we want to do about what we see.

Frankly, at this point in my life, I do not like who I see in the mirror.  I mean, he is a nice guy and all, but he hasn’t made the best choices for himself and he has let others make his choices for him.  Now it is my turn to take charge of that person in the mirror and make things different, better.

That is what I will be talking about over the next few blog postings.  They will be about how I am feeling right now and what I am going to do about those feelings to make them into something that will put the smile back on the face of that person in my mirror.
