Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted By admin On 5. February 2010 @ 8:26 am In Living | No Comments

I just learned two days ago that my Mom has Alzheimer’s disease.  It is times like this that family is so important.  I am thankful that my sister is just a couple miles away from Mom and my step Dad.

Yesterday I talked to a good friend whose wife has had Alzheimer’s disease for ten years now.  He suggested I visit the “PlayBook” website at [1] http://www.alzheimersplaybook.com.

That is where I found the poem below. I liked it so much that I just had to share it with you.  As time goes by I will share more with you about my Mom.

Do not ask me to remember.
Don’t try to make me understand.
Let me rest and know you’re with me.
Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

I’m confused beyond your concept.
I am sad and sick and lost.
All I know is that I need you
To be with me at all cost.

Do not lose your patience with me.
Do not scold or curse or cry.
I can’t help the way I’m acting,
Can’t be different ‘though I try.

Just remember that I need you,
That the best of me is gone.
Please don’t fail to stand beside me,
Love me ’till my life is done.
